Day 2 of Third Series Final Recap

We began the Third Series yesterday with 93 dogs around 7:38 am and made it about half way through before calling it quits at 3:58 pm due to lighting conditions. 

Today we resumed the series at 7 am with dog #79, FC-AFC Fattoria's Huckleberry Gin, "Huck." Huck was the first of eight handles today for a total of 14 in the series. We only had one no bird today, so things moved along a bit quicker than they had been. There were a total of six no birds in the series. The average run time today was 11 minutes per dog, about the same as yesterday's 11.2 minutes per dog, not accounting for the gun changes. There were also no pick ups, double handles, or scratches either day of the Third Series.

We continue to have a beautiful, sunshine-filled sky with moderate temperatures and mild, steady breeze. We're currently waiting for the callbacks and the starting dog.

28. FC-AFC Doctor Cabernet Just In Case, "Doc" BLM, Al Arthur

Doc came to the line at 1:43 pm.

Flyer - Doc made a big water entry and on the way to his flyer. Got it.

Short retired - Across the water, Doc landed and entered the area at the end of the cover. He took a close look in the area and came back with the bird.

Right retired - He came down to the fall area and just missed. He exited the water for a quick loop and went back in for the bird.

27. AFC Rebel Ridge Walk On The Wildside, "Candy" BLF, Jeff Lyons

Flyer - Candy went up the field and road. Then she went left, right, and to the bird.

Short retired - She swam across the water, drove straight through the cover and missed. She ran deep, then looped back down to the brush row and the bird.

Right retired - She swam to the area just right of the fall. Landed and turned left to get the bird.

26. FC-AFC Seaside's Smarty Jones, "Smarty" BLF, Kenny Trott

Smarty came to the line at 1:26 pm.

Flyer - Excellent.

Short retired - Very good.

Right retired - Great line! Smarty angled through the water and swam to her bird.

25. Beaver Runs Raymond For Sheriff QA2, "Raymond" BLM, Andrew Curtis

Flyer - Raymond ran the road and straight up the hill to the bird.

Short retired - He came out wide right to the trees, then back to the brush row and his bird.

Right retired - Beautiful line to the fall area and his bird.

24. FC Ellsd's Going On A Trip Grab Ur Camo, "Camo" YLM, Jim Beck

Camo came to the line at 1:05 pm.

Flyer - Once Camo got across the water, he cut right. Then he corrected and got across the road to the bird.

Right retired - Beautiful line. He landed just left of the bird. Then he made a couple large loops deep and came back to the bird.

Short retired - Nice line. He made it into the area of the fall and held the area for a couple of passes to locate his bird.

23. FC Yippee Kai Yea McBunn, "Kai" BLF, Dave Smith

Kai came to the line at 12:58 pm.

Flyer - Kai ran up the road to the area behind the guns. Crossed the road and went over to the left for the bird.

Short retired - She drove to the row of the brush, then ran straight in and came out with her bird.

Right retired - She held the line across the hill. Then she entered the pond and swam out under the arc. She turned and scooped it up.

22. FC-AFC Holland Cliffs Blade A Fine Line, "Dozer" BLM, Alvin Hatcher

Dozer came to the line at 12:49 pm.

Flyer - Dozer made a big splash, then went right up the hill to the bird.

Short retired - And he got it!

Right retired - He made a loop to the right of the mark and near the timber. Back to the mark for his bird.

21. FC Bayside’s Blue Sky’s the Limit, "Sky" BLM, Ty Rorem

Sky came to the line at 12:20 pm.

Flyer - Sky ran the road to the right of the guns. He looped to the right back around the guns twice. Then he crossed the road and got it.

Short retired - He crossed the pond, went through the brush, and drove the hill. He went back down to the blind, circled back up the hill, finally coming back down to get the bird.

Right retired - Beautiful line straight to the bird.

19. FC-AFC-CAFC Baypoints Thousand Fathom Edge, "Ouuks" BLM, Kylie VandeBrake

Flyer - Laser route! Straight to the bird.

Short retired - Ouuks got his bird.

Right retired - He went behind the cover at the shoreline and right back down to the bird.

18. Handle - FC Taylorlabs Hot Cinnamon Buns, "Hottie" YLF, Lynn Troy

Hottie came to the line at 12:18 pm.

Flyer - Hottie swam the pond, drove the hill and stepped on it.

Right retired - She swam to the left of the blind, made two loops deep, then got it!

Short retired - She swam, then angled to the right up the hill. She had to be handled back to the bird.

17. FC H Ford 11, "Deuce" BLM, Alex Drent

Deuce came to the line at 12:10 pm.

Flyer - Deuce got his bird.

Short retired - He made a big splash and swam across the water. Then he made a couple of loops along the backside of the cover and came through with his bird.

Right retired - He came out of the water under the arc, then made a quick loop back to the bird.

16. FC-AFC Hockley Creek's Switch Hitter, "Mickey” BLM, Robby Bickley

Mickey came to the line at 12:07 pm.

Flyer - Drilled it!

Short retired - Mickey went into the brush and smacked it.

Right retired - He angled the bank, squared the pond, then ran deep right. He came back down quickly to the water and got it.

 

 

15. FC Troublesome Ribeye Medium Rare, "Pink" BLF, Chris Ledford

Pink came to the line at 11:49 am.

Flyer - Pink went up the road to the bird.

Short retired - Excellent mark.

Right retired - She made a quick run on an angle, then swam to the fall area. She made two tight loops and got it. 

 

 

Gun Change @ 11:43 AM

There was a gun change from 11:43-11:49 am.

14. FC Watermark’s Coal-Fired Folsom Train, "Cash" BLM, Greg Bartlett

Flyer - Cash ran to the area, made a few turns, and had it.

Short retired - He got it!

Right retired - Cash took the right-hand side, crossed level with the bird, then went straight to it.

13. Bullet's Ordained Devil Dodger, "Deacon" BLM, Trent Goree

Deacon came to the line at 11:26 am.

Flyer - Deacon went through the water and up to his bird.

Short retired - He made a great line directly to the bird.

Right retired - His line was high along the near side of the pond. His hunt ensued at the end of the pond along the tree line. He made a loop out into the field and along the shoreline. He came back with his bird.

 

 

12. Contrails Queen Maxima, "Maxie" BLF, Alan Pleasant

Maxie came to the line at 11:18 am.

Flyer - Maxie went into the pond, then straight to the bird.

Short retired - She went across the pond, then left of the blind, curved back to the right and on to her bird.

Right retired - She made an excellent line - came within 4 feet of the bird.

 

 

 

 

11. NAFC-FC-AFC Bristol's North Slope Ptarmigan, "Ptar" BLM, Doreen Comrie-Bristol

Ptar came to the line at 11:09 am.

Flyer - Ptar went up the road and to his bird.

Right retired - He made a nice line from the mat to the mark.

Short retired - He had a significant hun deep of the bird. He worked his way down and got it.
